Glad you got it sorted , I see you’ve got a A1 tac , there a great rifle , I’m going to get one in the next month or so for a platform for my next rifle , mainly for Prs type , rifle will be a second hand .260 , rebarreled in 6xc , moderator instead of brake , MDT straight grip , ether trie-one or Spuhr mounts and I’ll be looking for a second hand scope , my go to scopes are Minox Zp5’s but I don’t want to spend that sort of money to band about shooting from strange positions

I’d take it back to where you got it from , the more you do to try and get it running smooth the more of a reason for them to say you’ve done something too it

Mid price check out the new vortex strike eagle , then high end check out minox zp5’s , there’s plenty of mounts out there but I only use trie-one or Spuhr expensive but worth it , also checkout secondhand scopes there’s some bargains out there , but in my opinion you need to look through one before you buy

2 things spring to mind , have you torqued the action correctly ? Slacken the Front screw on the action If it rises the action is under uneven tension , if this is so I’d bed and piller bed the action , also does/did the bolt face need opening up for the .338! if so was it a good job is the walls of the bolt face too thin 🤷‍♂️

Hi it might be just tour chamber is m/ced on the short side , also imo going over the 140 gn bullets might be slightly too long for the camber , to check both of the above measure your chamber and then check it against the nosler

Totally understand about ammo availability over here in England .260 is home load lonely , and 6.5 is hard to find and when you do it expensive .

You could try lighter bullets to reduce recoil , also over here when people are shooting Prl matches they add weights to the fore end make the rifle heavier / more stable , you could have a look at this , it would not be any good for hunting but will be fine on a range

Hi as you say 20 v 24 is a compromise but on the 6.5 not has much as you think , to my understanding the 6.5 only looses about 17f/s Per inch, which in my opinion is not a great deal , you can ‘loose ‘ more loading for accuracy over speed , my 6.5 is on the lower end of the powder fill and have had no problem out to 900 meters , was going to take it out further this year but c-19 has got in the way ,

You will find the 6.5 / 260 a lot nicer to shoot on the recoil front , the tac A1 is a great rifle
