Was your cleaning during breakin done from the chamber end? If not I would say you did the damage while cleaning. I would have the barrel cut and recrowned.

Yes there is enough room to fit a varmint barrel, I have seen 2 of them done.

Where did you see this done? B and C says no way. Got a link or pics?
Look at the pic I posted on the first page, there is plenty of room to be opened up for a standard varmint barrel. I think B&C just don't want their stocks to be modified by us and as far as I know they don't offer this as a option if you buy direct from them.

My HSS is a little loose also. I just received two from the guy out of Canada and they fit nice, these would be the one's I recommend.
