I also misspoke.  The rifle has 1 in 14 twist.  I did some reading and some people are having some accuracy success with 60 gr bergers in their 1 in 14 twist barrels.  I bought some bergers and 60 gr vmax to try.  I posted some previous links to 22-250 reloading.  AccurateShooter.com is an informative site.

I said new bolt and I actually meant new bolt handle.  I installed the Hinterland bolt handle.  I like it and it is some improvement over the stock bolt handle but it does look cool and it is easy to operate.

I went back to the range this weekend.  Still doing the break in on the Tikka.  Shot another 15 rounds cleaning after 3 shots.  Still getting a little copper when cleaning.  Accuracy was as good as I could expect with several 2 shot groups close together.  I had a lot of muzzle blast on either side of me at the range.  It did affect my accuracy.  I need a quiet day a the range.

I have started playing with some reloads.  All using lapua brass, federal match primers and 35.1 gr. of varget.  I shot three bullet types all during my break in.  There were 50 gr vmax, 55 gr vmax and 55 gr bergers.  All three shot similar to  Superformance.  I have a lot of testing to do.  Since this gun has 1 in 12 twist I just ordered some 60 gr. vmax and bergers to try.  It will be interesting.  Keep in mind that I hunt so putting 5 rounds in one hole at 200 yards is nice but not as important as a cold bore 200 yard shot.

This rifle is going coyote hunting in November along with my rock river .223 predator.  The rock river shoots 1.5 groups at 200 yards with Superformance and that was before I installed a better trigger than the RR two stage.  I am going hunting with Tony Tebbe at Predator University in New Mexico.  Can't wait!

I have a Remington Model 7 , 300 Short Action Ultra Mag.  Competes with WSM.  The rifle has a 22 inch barrel and is my favorite hog gun.  I don't think it kicks any more than my .308 Remington Sendaro.

I thought it looked cool!.  The bolt really did not need replacing but I thought it would look nice on the new stock.

I am having fun as time allows.  This project got started the day I picked up my Tikka.  I was not happy with all of the plastic.  Ordered a new stock and other parts to replace the plastic and the bolt.  Now I am waiting for the Helmick stock so I can install the CDI bottom metal and magazine.  Soon I will post some pictures of the Tikka with the new bolt, shroud and scope mounted with the EGW rail.  I will have a semi custom gun.  Oh well……could have bought a Sako.

Thanks.  My rings are in the mail.  Looks like a next week project.  Oh well, it was 103 in the garage yesterday afternoon.

I hunt mainly 50 to 300 yards and I always clean out the copper.  I use Pro Shot copper solvent IV which does a great job.  Using it on my new barrel break in.

On the predator masters website this morning I found this link.  I think I will also look at Varget 35.1 gr using 55 gr vmax.  This guy had excellent results.

No doubt that there were some interesting loads on that list.  I spoke with Gary at Hornady about load selection.  With the 1 in 14 twist he said that we are limited to the 55 gr. bullet.  He also said ( he thought) that Savage and Remington may have gone to 1 in 12 so a heavier bullet coult be used.  I did see several loads on the list that I will try once my barrel is broken in.  I am really interested in seeing how well the Superformance does at 200 yards.
