20 MOA rail questions
Posted by Hindsight on September 4, 2012 at 2:52 pmHi Guys, walk me through this. I am mounting my Zeiss 6.5 x20 50mm scope this week using the EGW 20 moa rail and EGW scope rings. When mounting the scope did you put the elevation adjustment of your scope in the middle of the range? What I mean is having the elevation adjustment with as much upward adjustment as downward adjustment. How did your sight in go? How much did you have to adjust to get to zero. Thanks in advance.

With a 20 MOA rail, you should have to dial in 'down' in order to zero the rifle. Then, when you take those really long shots, you will have more 'up' to adjust with.

Thanks. My rings are in the mail. Looks like a next week project. Oh well, it was 103 in the garage yesterday afternoon.

Does a 20MOA rail slope up toward the muzzle, or does it slope up at the rear?

The “slope up” end of the rail would be toward the back end of the rifle. Think of the crosshair pointing downward. So, then, if you put the crosshair on the target, the muzzle will be pointing upward. Hence, you have to dial in “down” in order to zero the rifle. But then you have more “up” to adjust with.
