I am switching to moly coated bullets and plan to do load testing after my bore is seasoned to moly. I am expecting to do my bore seasoning with junk bullets, but I want to do load development with imr4166

Get a chronograph set up and do the long range load development at 100 yds as explained by Eric Cortina on accurate shooter forum. You will be ringing those steel targets in no time.

Some models of the T3 don't come with rings (Sporter for eg.)
The factory rings are very basic and are usually the first thing to change. I would recommend a mountain tactical pic rail and a good aftermarket set of rings for any caliber you have. I use DNZ Freedom Reapers for one piece and pick rails, also have a set of DNZ one piece Game Reapers for use without pic rail. DNZ one piece are high so if you go with pic rail you may want a different brand that offers lower profile. Many good ones out there like talley.

I hear your pain. The Sporter is a great rifle and has the barrel length and trigger many want but has the $1500 price tag. I can almost guarantee you can resell the stock for north of $500 based on a recent EBay listing. So if you want to part it out you won't be left holding the stick (stock I mean).

Here is the formula for determining if you should get a new barrel:
1 wife = no new barrel
1 girlfriend = maybe new barrel
1 wife + 1 girlfriend = run -
So you are looking at a scope in the $900 us dollar range? I use a Viper PST 6-24, not sure if that is avail for you but is avail several hundred dollars cheaper without options. There is a good series on Youtube from Tiborasaurus rex that does some good long range evaluation of optics.

hey Bob, I am in USA so cant easily advise on suppressors since they are tightly regulated here (min $200 tax and some states don't allow in any case) but that said, if you live in a country/state that does allow sound modifiers then modifying your current barrel will almost certainly be cheaper than replacing the barrel entirely. Now if you have any desire to change your barrel details like twist rate or length then by all means this is the time to do it. so pay what $200 u.s. to thread your barrel or $600 to get the barrel you want? I am just guessing on prices but if i am wrong i bet it is on the threading, might be 1/2.

what i did on my T3 Sporter was similar. I cleaned with Butches bore shine and have no way to tell if it helped. Sako does good barrels and I am inclined to be less anal in future. I am switching to moly coated bullets soon and plan to use Boretech extreem to deal with the moly.

I think the T3 Compact is still using the standard set up. So here is your solution! Get a T3 30-06 mag and file your bolt stop to make your longer than factory rounds fit in your same rifle. For $60 bucks or so you can get a long magazine and by filing the bolt stop you can draw the bolt back a bit further. You can also pay big bucks to buy a long action bolt stop and the same magazine and get the same result. If your cartridges fit in the standard .308 mag, then just file the bolt stop a bit.
Good luck friend, btw there is an Australian company that sells longer .308 metal magazines (10 shot) that you might be willing to pay for, though im not sure if you need to modify the bolt stop. look at general post to find the company.

Still no basement range but, Dog, why such a large powder range? 20 to 25.5 is like 3/4 (well bit more) to compressed load?

Dan Newberry's method is a decent option but, Eric Cortina has refined it a bit and his is the method I prefer. No round robin nonsense, and use a chronograph. check out his post on Accurateshooter.com long range load development at 100 yrd (or something named close) and look at the protocol. The goal is to get the best load range for the least cost in components.

Any Torque wrench that is repeatable is better than none at all, but I would like to get a Borka set for more precision work. Very simple design and cheaper than a lab-standard one.

$20 for a cheap dremel knock off and no downside to removing nubs. Its worth trying it in my opinion.
