I would love Tikkas to come with a more positive recoil lug, namely something like yukonal's construct.  I have to say tho that these rifles shoot remarkably well with the set up as-is.  Get a torque wrench and keep things snugged up consistent and you will be impressed.

I second the advice on getting Ernie the gunsmith varmint spring.  Just backing out the follower screw losses its effectiveness past a certain point.  Better to have a different spring to maintain the safety aspects of the trigger assembly.  You could keep backing out the screw till there was no contact and have a very unsafe condition.  My Sporter with ernies spring is mere ounces and clean, and the ” bounce” test confirms it is fairly safe.  The fact is no trigger is “safe” given a overwhelming upset, but I think a trigger pull should reflect the use.  If you wear gloves when shooting, you should opt for a heavier pull, if you do bench rest stuff- then light as you please!

Muzzle brakes and suppressors often have a beneficial effect on group size.  Not always of course but just like tuners they change the harmonics of the system.  Keep em tight and a proper brake adds a lot of benifit aside from noise.

Like you said, the tikka mag is a straight feed with no monkey business.  The extra nice part is it doesn't scrape the bullet going int the chamber (at least not on mine!

Thanks for the props Asgen, but there are folks on this site with way more exp than me, including Yukonal, Larkin and Dogdown to name a few!

I had a viper FFP PST in 4-16, but, nice as it was I returned it and got the more powerful 6-24 PST.  If the 4-16 magnification works for you, then you will be hard pressed to find a better scope in the price range!

Btw I have seen you around the forums and am glad to welcome you here (belated and sorry if you have been here awhile 🙂
