The sig rangefinders work well in colder weather but I have struggled to make it work while snow is falling. I keep mine inside my jacket until I pull it out for ranging

Hey Larkin, I bought the 7 rem mag in anticipation of getting mountain tac to rebarrel to 300 winmag with their long bottom metal and a new barrel. I am now kind of keen on exploring the potential of the 7 rem mag with Tikka 9.5 twist.
I am focusing on 150 gr projectiles and waiting to see how it goes.

I hate slow twists, and Tikka is notorious for slow twist in 30 cal. I now find they like slow twist in 7mm. I should have known but I’m ok with reloading to the twist.If I had my preferences I would spec a barrel with a 1:8 twist to run the more heavies.

If anyone wants to thread a Tikka stock light barrel for calibers above 7 mm I would recommend 9/16×24 to leave a little more “meat” for adapter to seat on. 1/2 x28 is too skinny in my opinion.

Wow 65 in-lbs is tight… I wonder why the high specs
I have twisted the ends off otherwise beefy seeming screws at 50 in-lbs -

That’s a tough call. I would be inclined to find a used plastic replacement stock if you are ok with the original. They can usually be found cheaply on EBay.

The good news is that there are all kinds of 300 wsm used for sale
I just wish I had a lathe to thread the barrels for my suppressors… -

I’m keen to finding a a 300 short mag cheap, and I see some locally. What I hate is that Tikka’s are 1:11 twist so if I want to do a custom rifle with Jason I am looking at faster twist or standard twist and short mag. Meaning I either find a short mag and buy bullets to fit the 1:11 twist or have Jason barrel me a gun that works with my 220 Lapua bullets in hand.
I have 100 adm 300 WM cases on hand and the adm bottom metal looks keen so I am dumping the short mag plan
I realize I talked about this before, sorry to belabor the point. -

Here in the states we don’t see that option usually. I would make this my first choice if I had the option, but we will need to spread the word in the meantime.
Not to put too delicate a point on it, what kind of cost are we looking at?
