My main reason is not to have a shortened magnum its because its the only rifle I have and I don't think I can afford a new one. If I saved for a while a .308 could work better but Im just trying to work with what I got. I would still be shooting out to 200-300yds.

Eric, I am trying to gain more maneuverability while hunting in thick forest so I am debating cutting the barrel for that reason. I need a short barreled rifle and am seeing if this would be a good route to go
My reason is being a magnum the loss of speed wouldn't be as significant as say a 270win,308 or 30-06 if I was doing the same thing.
Thanks everyone for the input, I really appreciate it

Thats a good looking brake, not too bad given the USA currency exchange. My main issue is finding someone locally who can do the work. I might have to possibly wait to do any mods until I am on the mainland cause shipping can be killer to Hawaii on larger items.

Thanks so much Dog, those charts are really good. I have been using 130gr Federal Powershok soft points they are sposed to be doing 3250.
How do you think recoil would be with a shorter barrel, the WSM isn't the gentlest shooting rifle.
Now I have to find someone who does quality gunsmithing here in Hawaii.

I am currently running one on my .270wsm and love it. Yes I had to remove a little material (paint mostly) to get it to fit perfectly but apart from that it works and looks great. It's a bummer if its hit and miss but I scored and have used 2 different stocks and this one suits my need the best (all weather, light, accurate and good looking) I like the recoil lug system so far and it is shooting .5-.75MOA compared to the .75-1MOA of the factory Walnut using factory ammo
Here are a couple pics, the one in the middle with the lites and then on its own

Ive used the DNZ Gamereaper one piece mount for my T3. Im running a Zeiss Conquest HD5 3-15×42 and never had any issues, it's rock solid and super light.

Been loving the Zeiss, I do a bit of shorter range hunting (50-200) and the 3-15 works really well on 3x and the 42mm objective keeps the whole package relatively compact for the actual zoom range. Optically its stunning. I have yet to find something I like better in that price range. For me the RZ800 reticle is perfect too, most of the time I have used the center which is zeroed at 200yds but its nice to know I can reach out further with no thought at all. For the rifle and use/budget I have for it I think the Zeiss is the winner.

I have a B&C Medalist sporter on my T3 270wsm. Love it, pretty light with a decent recoil lug system and was able to see on average a .15-.25″ decrease on my groups versus my factory wood stock. Had to shave a small amount of material (mostly the paint) for a perfect fit. Bought it from Red Hawk Rifles, seemed to have the best prices at the time. Love the stock and its perfect for my needs.
I'll post a pic and feel free to ask any questions about it I can try and help

b1rdd0g,
The ram was shot at around 100yds prone off my bi-pod. I didn't get an exact range as we were stalking a few sheep and they busted out of the forest into an old lava flow and presented me with short window to take a shot. Happened really quickly but I got a clean heart shot and he only went a couple yards.
From everything I have heard Vortex service is really good so hopefully you won't have any issues there. I still would really like to give that scope a try, but I will need to get another rifle. I would really like to have a setup with target turrets that I can tinker with.
I think the one thing I did wish my Zeiss had was an illuminated reticle for dusk and dawn. I'll keep you updated when I am able to do some more longer shots on targets and if I get any low light opportunities.
Would love to hear how everything goes with Vortex

Took the Zeiss Conquest HD5 3-15×42 out to the range and on a hunt over the past couple weeks and can make a few comments now. Was able to get 3/4″ groups with factory ammo and bag a Mouflon/hybrid ram this weekend.
One of the big things for me is the simplicity and compact size of the scope. For what I am using it for I didn't want big turrets and “lots going on” on the exterior of the scope, just sleek and simple.
The glass is amazing, I have seen a few scopes in this range ($1000 and lower) with good glass but nothing yet that has the same edge to edge clarity and brightness. The 5x zoom is great and I love having 3x for closer shots but 10-15x for the longer shots. The parallax adjustment works great and not having the yardage numbers on the knob didn't really bother me cause I was looking through the scope while I was adjusting. Very precise and clear clicks on the elevation and windage turrets.
One of the big things I got this scope was for hunting with the Rapid Z 800 ballistic reticle but I have yet to use it except for sighting in at 200yds and inputting the data for the current round I am shooting. Technically I should be able to shoot out to 800yds but I want to practice on steel before hunting beyond 300yds.
So far love the scope, hurts the wallet but worth every penny and fits my needs perfectly.

I have a medium on my t3 with a 42mm objective and there is tons of room and could def go with a low. I got medium so it gave me the freedom to go to a bigger objective in the future

I set up my friend who was visiting me in Hawaii on this Mouflon sheep at 356yds with my rifle. We were at 5000' with Mauna Kea a 14,000' dormant volcano in the background.
