Weight
I have a stainless .25-06 in the factory laminated stock. Right now with a Leupold 6×42 in the factory rings with a nylon sling and 4 RDS of 117gr ammo on board it all weighs 7 lbs 2 ozs. I am switching out the mounts for some modified Talley Lightweights and will be having Feldkamps fluting the bolt and barrel. I was mainly doing this all for looks but after weighing it all it got me thinking. I hope after all is said and done the whole thing will be under 7 lbs all up. Any guesses as to final weight? Is 3 ozs worth the trouble? Once this is complete and I get Leupold to change the reticle to a German #4 I do think I will have the perfect deer/sheep/antelope gun.

Not to sound stupid, have you considered getting a different lightweight synthetic stock? It seems to me you could save quite a bit of weight with a stock swap. Good luck on your hunt. Hope you get a big one.

If I were just trying to go lightweight I would get a McMillan Edge synthetic and be done with it. I prefer the looks and feel of the laminated stock and really like the looks of fluted barrels. This started as a cosmetic thing and getting it under 7 lbs is a bonus
