Warne Tactical rings
Well my EGW base arrived yesterday and I was all keyed up to get the new base and scope mounted. I went with the picatinny setup to offer me a little more versatility. First off I couldn't find a 6-48 tap to clean up the mounting bolt holes. After much debate I installed them without cleaning and was very pleased when they torqued to 15in/lbs. I'm not sure where I found this torque setting but remember seeing it somewhere so that's what I went with. Next I move on to setting the scope rings in place. I was just beginning to torque the rings base cinch bolt into place onto the new rail when it happened, dang bolt broke!! Now I won't get my scope mounted for another week, AARRGG! I set out to find a new set of rings. With only $100 to spend I begin looking at rings. I found the Warne Tactical series rings and really liked the way they looked. I ended up going with the Med. height rings. I needed at least .355″ from the picatinny rail base to the bottom of the ring where the scope sets. The Med. are .440″ so that should give me the room I need without setting the scope too high. Hopefully these will be here late next week and I can finally mount my new optic. I'll post up pics and initial thoughts when they arrive.
