TRG Scope mount on T3?
Posted by TorontoAlex on March 23, 2015 at 2:32 pmI just purchased my brand new T3 Laminate .270 and really excited to start target shooting. Does anyone know anything about the Sako TRG scope mount? My local gunshop happens to have one used, good condition for half price. I googled it and it looks like it's a 3 ring setup integrated on a rail. I believe this rail goes over and fastens to a dovetail. Will it fit my T3? I highly doubt it but worth a guess. Obviously asking the gun shop would be ideal but there is so much confusion out there (ie. alot of gun shops don't even know they carried FFP scopes) I rather trust a wider knowledge base.
Thank you in advance!

Hey are you a fellow TO boy? What gun shop you speaking of? I've found a really good gunsmith if you are in the GTA area, as you know these guys are hit or miss. Let me know if you are interested in getting the info….
The grooves should be the same for the TRG and T3. There are threads from a few guys having done exactly what you are trying to do on other forums, using optics and mounts on 2 guns …prepare for a long search though…not much actual detailed information but from what I understand its been done and works fine.

Ahhh haha I'm not telling you who's selling it until I've purchased it but nice try! Lol just kidding… but really I'm not saying who until it's in my hands!
I'm in Oshawa and have only dealt with one gunsmith in the Rice Lake area. Forget his name.

LOL…seriously I'm not interested in the mount, I'm a rail and ring guy… But interested in what you are paying for it…?
Check out “Tactical Ordinance” if you want really good work done to any rifle. http://www.tacord.com
Little bit of a drive for you but the rates are good and Casey is great to deal with. I just got a Vais brake from him for my CTR. He does “everything” in house and the quality of his work is outstanding.
He's by far the best and nicest guy I've found on the entire GTA area to work on guns and his shop is something…man is it ever nice, all the milling and tinkering equipment we all wish we had.You a member of any gun clubs or ranges in the area?

It's Ellwood Epps in Orillia. They seem to have pretty good selection and excellent service.
After further looking into the TRG mount I'm not sure there's any advantage to using it over the Elite steel rail sold by Mountain tactical.
I am a member of the Oshawa Skeet and Gun club and they have a 300 yard range. I think I was a member of the Ontario Rifle Association cause I got the emails but never participated in any events. I'd really like to take the long range courses / shooting days with them in Barrie, or Milcun in Minden.
Thanks for the heads up with TacOrd. Looks like he knows what he's doing!

No problem…message me if you ever what to get together and shoot sometime
I hand load for a few of my buddies who shoot these guns, so if you are looking to get the max accuracy out of the gun with some custom ammo save your brass and hit me up. -
Ok thanks for that. I'm almost done getting set up for reloading myself as I've chosen the Hornady 130gr sst to shoot.
