To T3 Sporter or to T3 Varmint, that is the question.
Hello, wondering if a few might be able to shed some light on the differences between models.
Although I'm somewhat enamored w/ the 6.5 swede, I'm looking for a .223 to begin with. I hunt paper at 100yards (rimfire) primarily, but have the ability and desire to shoot at longer ranges. The T3 Sporter with it's gaudy orange stock is currently in the middle of my crosshairs.
But I've started to wonder if a T3 Varmint might serve just as well. What does the $600 surcharge buy me, other than the stock? Adding a GPR stock to the varmint, and you're right about at the same price of the sporter; and the GPR is a very nice looking stock.
A new varmint will most likely have the 1:10 twist, while the Sporter retains the 1:8 Don't know if that will be an issue for me. I'll more than likely be using commercial .223
Are there any technical differences other than the large bolt knob on the Sporter? I see barrel length on the Sporter is 20(threaded) or 24″; whereas the varmint is 24 only. Can the CDI Precision DBM be installed on either, or would modifications be necessary the to the Sporter stock?
Probably have a few other questions that haven't come to mind.
Comments appreciated.
