Tikka T3x Bolt Shroud Rubbing on Receiver
Hi Guys,
Recently purchased a Tikka T3x Stainless Varmint in 223.
Decided to change the bolt handle to a Lucky 13 one.
First couple of times i tried to remove the bolt handle following youtube videos and the firing pin spring wouldnt go limp. Finally on my 4th attempt it did and I could remove the handle and replace it. I put the new handle on and noticed that the black paint is coming off the shroud as its being pulled into the receiver when i cock the bolt. Changed back to the old handle and the same thing happens. I have pulled apart the bolt again and put it all back together carefully but still the shroud is rubbing on the receiver.
Attached is a pic to show the damage to the shroud, everytime i cock the bolt it rubs off more paint as the shroud is being pulled into the receiver.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
From what i can tell, the shroud is supposed to pull into the receiver when the bolt is cocked/locked down but its supposed to have a small amount of clearance so it doesnt hit the receiver and get damaged, is that correct?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a new T3x Varmint .223 (not stainless) with 165 rounds through it, not even a scratch on the shroud. I don't have a remedy, but obviously there is a tolerance issue somewhere. I am sure Tikka would be glad to check this out for you, and if it is a warranty issue, they will stand behind it.

Thanks for your reply. The annoying thing is, i cycled the bolt quite a few times prior to changing the bolt knob and it didnt have any issues. I watched plenty of youtube clips and bolt disassembly is very straightforward so i really dont understand why the shroud is rubbing the receiver now that i've changed the bolt knob. I've ever gone back to the original bolt knob and the shroud is still rubbing.
