Tikka T3 TAC cheek well reversal question
Posted by bravastar1 on November 3, 2014 at 4:16 pmI just bought a T# TAC in .223. I shoot left handed and would like to reverse the side the cheek well knob is located on. I see in the manual that this can be done but there are no instructions as to how to do this. I called Beretta and was told they would need to get in a rifle and take a look. There is a small allen set screw threaded in the knob itself which I have removed. I also removed the plastic plug from the left side of the stock which gave me access to another allen screw which is VERY tight. So far I have had NO luck. If you have done this modification before please post how you did it. Thanks in advance.

Did you ever figure out how to switch the cheek adjustment knob from one side to the other?
If so, what was the trick? -
When I got mine earlier this year I remember reading that it could be reversed. I shoot left handed as well and didn't feel like waiting for a left handed rifle, plus I've shot right handed rifles left handed all my life so I just checked to see if the screw would bother me. It didn't so I just ignored it. Probably doesn't help you much but it shouldn't be in your way where it is.

Hi There,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the adjustment screw. I too am a lefty shooter, left eye dominate, but didn't want to wait for a left handed rifle. I have shot right handed rifles with the left hand.
I shall try it with the screw in its current position and see how it feels.
I have tried to figure out how to switch sides but haven't succeeded yet.
If anybody can shed some light… it would be greatly appreciated.

A right handed good friend of mine lost vision in his right eye 20 years ago. He had his Ruger Red Lable shotgun modified with a very high (2″) rail so he could use his left eye. He tried learning to shoot lefty but no success, he is a dead shot with his current set up. I recommend not fighting your instincts and work around your instincs. Since you have a righty action and assuming you want to adapt to it with lefty inclinations… Then practice, practice practice.
If you want to embrace “leftism” (not politics btw) by all means save for a lefty version of your rifle and sell your righty! You will, I think, find your scores improve if you stop fighting your natural tendancies. It is similar to natural position behind the rifle. I don't claim this is true, it's just my opinion.
Regardless, have fun!

Still NO luck in finding out how to swap the knob from the right side to the left side. There must be one guy out there that has done it. Please let us know.
