Tikka T3 Picatinney Rail Mount
Posted by mjolnir2thor on November 6, 2011 at 1:11 amHas anyone used one of these? I just bought a T3 Sporter and and thinking about using this mount. It would allow me to switch scopes easily with other rifles I have. From the looks of it, is slides on the receiver and then there are 2 screws to set the rail.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated! -Thanks!

This is the stock picatinny rail that comes with the Tactical and Super Varmints. It is also a 0 moa rail.
Personally I like the EGW rails. I sell them for $39.95 for a standard in 0 moa or 20 moa.
They are easy to switch scopes and retain point of aim as long as you torque the screws the same each time.

The EGW rails seem to work quiet nicely for the money. Mine is a HD model but still quiet a bit cheaper than the OP's link.

Gents,
Got 4 Tikkas and all of them have the EGW rails on them. Never a problem with any. I just replaced the “standard” rail on my 300WSM with the HD (not HD Steel) model. Not that the other one didn't work just fine, but the HD allows the scope to be mounted slightly lower. I have the EGW rails on various other rifles as well. They are a great product, regerdless of price… But that helps!
I use Leupold PRW rings on my lighter scopes and EGW Tactical rings on my 30mm scopes.

I would never ever consider a picatinny on a T3.
I see the integrated rail as one of the key factors why to choose T3, as it gives maximum stability to the mount.
With a rail, you are downgrading you'r T3 to Rem 700 level……But I would never consider switching scopes betwen rifles, I want at least one scope per rifle and I want to be sure that when i take the gun should it be sighted in.
I don't like the feeling of “was it last time on the .22-250 or the 308………..”However there is a number of really good 17 mm mounts to choose from so there is really no reason of making a sandwish solution out of your T3.
