Tikka T3 out to 1000 yrds
I'm looking at getting a new rifle that I can target shoot with typically at the 300-600 yrd range. But I'd like one that I could eventually take out to 1000 yds.
I finally picked up a T3 and fell in love with the action. So now I'm on the hunt to pick one up. I'd like to stick with a .308 for many different reasons though.
My issue is that the only Tikka I can find in .308 is the Lite or the Tac. I'd rather not pay 3 times the cost if I don't have to. Can the Lite reach out and touch something at that distance? Are there .308's floating around out there in the Varmint?
Would love to get your view.

You should be able to find a T3 Varmint in .308…and away you go.

I have taken my T3 lite 25-06 to a 1000 with 2 hits in the 10 ring. Bone stock using Hornady 117 gr SST. It does heat up and start to string.

I've been told by EuroOptic that Berretta is not importing the Varmint in .308. Sucks.
I'm trying to figure out if its worth spending the extra $800 for a Tactical. Seems like a waste to me.

Unless you're shooting multiple strings of shots, a sporter barrel will make the trip without a problem.
The barrel will heat up if you string to many shots back to back and your poa will go down.
Personally I would spend the extra dough on a tactical. Take that money and put it into the optics and a stock.
