Tikka T3 in .300 win out of the box
This past year I bought a Tikka T3 300 win mag. I put a 4x16x44 viper HD scope on it, I went to store and due to the upcoming non lead regs in California I purchased the Barnes TTSX BT 165gr. ammo. We only had 1 chance to go to the range before general season opened here and the first thing i noticed is this gun group were out standing, i was on target in 6 shots and hitting sub moa groups, I checked load data and wanted the gun 0 at 200 yrds so since i didn't have a 200 yard target i set it 1.3 inches high at 100. Needless to say deer hunting public land here is extremely hard and we only have buck tags. We never saw a buck entire season out of 3 hunters so 2nd to last day I asked my father if we cold go up to a large canyon and take some long range shots, he shoots a custom 300 rum. So we went up there ranged out a 1 foot target at 474 yards. Me nor my father have ever shot that far. I took first shot with my dad saying no way you'll hit that across a canyon… Bullseye… my dad about flipped out of his seat said do it again… boom 1 inch to the left… so he took some shots and was able to match me… so then i found a 2 foot rock on other mountain ranged at 705 yards. He then said no way… boom smacked rock over almost center… this was the first time i had ever shot this far and my dad has never shot that far in his life. This gun performed flawlessly. I dont ever write reviews but i was so impressed i had to say something…. What a rifle. Thank you Tikka great job.

Man, you guys sound good! Good to hear your Tikka did so well out of the box.
Were you dialing for elevation or holding over?

the winds were almost still so i just compensated for bullet drop about 36 inches at 500 yards. 31 for the rum. the 700 yard shot was a total guess. Luck was on my side that day.
