Tikka T3 black stock sanding?
Posted by Porker on September 20, 2014 at 12:57 pmHello all,
New to the forum and wanted to say Hi! I could not find the “introduce yourself” thread, so doing it here. Will soon be taking possession of my 6.5 stainless LH of which I want to have the standard black stock cammo wrapped. I wanted to know if sanding down the gripping areas to smooth the stock for coating will render it thin in those spots. The rifle can go straight to the coating Co. before it comes to me and save me having to post it again, just not sure if I will be damaging the stock. regards, porker

I don't think it will make it too thin in that area, but I don't think it's necessary either…if you are talking about camo “dipping” where they dip the stock into the film that is floating on top of water.

6.5 … you mean 6.5×55? I absolutely love that cartridge.
if you mean any other 6.5, I really like them too lol
that said welcome and I hope the long wait for response is not a turn off. we are shy of activity but for Tikkas, this is the place to be and welcome!!!That said the plastic stocks can be abused and painted to your hearts content, the wood stocks (like mine) are fine without changes. the aftermarket stocks in the tikka store are gorgeous and I would love to try em but am too happy with factory for now.
