Tikka/Sako extractors???
Are Tikka and Sako extractors the same, but different?? Reason I asked is, my brand new T3X 223 Varmint did not extract the case after firing. After taking the extractor out, hoping to find something had lodged under it, which there wasn't, I examined it. I found that the ledge of the extractor where the plunger rests, was not flat. It was angled up a little, which in turn, would not let the extractor lay down in it's slot enough to be able to catch the rim of the brass. I filed it down just enough to be flat, put everything back together, and it now extracts the case.
Before I filed on the extractor, I was searching to find a photo of Tikka or Sako extractors. I looked at Brownells, MGW and finally PTG. PTG's site has Sako extractors in 3 sizes. Small, .152 wide for use in Sako rifles only, Medium, .171 w for use with 223 to 308 family, and Large, .230. The width of the Tikka is about .213 wide. So, if I want to get an extra extractor for my rifle to have as a spare, it looks as if I will have to get a Tikka only part, or get the .230 one and stone it down to fit.
Any thoughts???
