A few guys on the forum have done really well in competition with a stock Varmint or Super Varmint model…
These guys are hand loading though. -
I entered my first F-TR match a month ago with .223 T3 Sporter at South Bay Rod and Gun Club near San Diego. I used Creedmoor 77gr TMK factory loads (no reloads yet). I ended up 6th or 7th out of 15(I think) with a score of 436(out of 450 max) – 11X. This was a reduced distance F-TR match at 300 yards with appropriately reduced size targets. There were relatively light winds so I ended up holding off between 3 and 6″ for most of the shots.
It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it !

Thanks for the input guys. would love to hear more…
I have a t3 tactical in .223 8 twist with very minor mods and am looking to try some of the local competitions in 300-600 range.
I have been looking at a lot of information on the web and have not seen much on people using Tikka's.
Everyone that tries mine or sees me shoot mine is impressed (not that I am any good, but the rifle makes me look that way :)) and figured that if there were more tikka owners shooting t/fr, this would be the place to look.
I have started to do my own reloads and am working on fine tuning a recipe for longer range loads.
thanks again

Hi Harry,
If you are looking for a really accurate load out your Tac 223, try this recipe.
Projectile (Hornady) – 75gr Amax
Brass (Hornady) – 1.755″
Powder (Varget) – 25.2grs
CCI Br4 primer
COAL = 2.46″ (single loading)
***Roll the Amax projectiles to make sure tips are centric – they wobble if not centric**
***Weight sort your brass and projectiles***This load shoots dime size targets at 200yrds out of my Varmint and Lite model T3 – 223's…
Also extremely good in wind…Here's some previous info for you to look over:
https://tikkashooters.com/public_html/general-discussion/75gr-amax-100yrd-groups-load-data-for-tikka-223/Work up from 24.5grs of Varget in .2gr increments to find the sweet spot for your barrel.

Made up some test loads but havn't gotten a chance to get out to the range in about a month. ggrrrrr!
Thanks for the links, I will check them out.
