The only flag / flags that I have ever paid attention to at 25 yards is when I am shooting rimfires out to 200 yards. I think you develop a sixth sense for the wind over a period of time. Before I ever squeeze the trigger my thought process goes as such:
1. How much wind do I feel on my face?
2. Evaluate the wind conditions from me to the target. This being any flags available, the terrain such as grass, trees, brush, etc.
3. On a sunny day, what is the mirage doing t the target? L-R, R-L, Boil?
5. Wind direction, head wind, tail, wind, L-R, R-L.Just as an example, the last 1k match I shot we had 2 flags. One at 400 and one at 700. The only two the that I paid attention to was the 700 yard flag and what the mirage was doing at the target.
Every range is different depending on what the terrain is like. Trigger time and notes for a particular range will be your best friend.

Shot this at Pendleton 2 weeks ago with my 6.5×47 which is for sale. X ring is 5'' , 10 ring is 10''.

Have another match on the 27th and will be using the 6XC for that. Report will be coming after the match.
thanks

That's amazing! What kind of conditions were you dealing with at Pendleton?
Do you like the 6mm over the 6.5mm for long distances?

Pendleton range 117A is one of the trickiest ranges to shoot at. many have agreed to this!
The winds blow from the ocean and are constantly switching and difficult to read.As far as the difference between the two….. the 6.5×47 is awesome! I have very little trigger time behind the 6XC but I am very impressed with it so far.
