Posted by Trixterminator on June 26, 2017 at 2:43 amLove my Tikka! New to the forum so “hello” to everybody.
T3X Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor
Vortex Razor gen II 4.5-27×56
Larue LT845 QD
Silencerco Radius and Omega
Accu-Tac LR10 bipod
Accuracy first anti cant level
LaRue index rail inserts to keep the Radius wiring to the pressure pad nice and clean
Vortex Defender flip cap lens covers=had to shave a hair off the objective lens cap thumb tab to clear the rail.
CGR American Flag (desert tan) rail covers**Definitely don't get a scope mount any shorter than 1.5″ for the Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27×56 if you plan to utilize flip up lens caps.**

Thank you! You can't go wrong with the Harris, good bi pods. I just needed something a little more heavy duty as this girl is a real heavyweight. Did some work at the range this week and am so impressed with how well it does with factory ammo. Target was at 110 yards with a 5 shot group+no wind+sunny day+92 degrees F'=Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr. BTHP 50 pack box (“American gunner”/non match). So from the outside holes of the largest spread I got .44 MOA (.71-.264). Cant wait to see what it will do with match ammo. I hear ya on waiting for the HPA to pass. I've been holding out for a can for my .22LR Tac Sol. Problem is when it passes all the cans are going to disappear off the shelves overnight, especially the popular ones. Regardless I hope it passes soon.

I've had a go of all the competion ruger , Remington , Howa the Tikka is far superior in every way and are worth the little but extra , works going to pick up in the next year so one in .260 is on the cards for me next year

That's good to know! I can only compare it to my AI AX and Barrett MRAD and I'm serious when I say I enjoy this Tikka just as much if not more than my other precision rifles… and at a fraction of the cost. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck! Hope you get that 260 soon, you're gonna love it!

Here's a shot looking down the scope. Ive really been impressed with the Silencerco Radius thus far. Quick and very accurate without ever having to loose my cheek weld. The second picture was taken while I was setting up the scope mount on my “heavy metal” shooting bench I built from scratch.

That is a nice set up, also have the tac a1 6.5 with the same scope, how much weight is she packing ?

Right around 16lbs. No surprises there. I like my girls to have some meat on em. 😮

Well i tried some Burris med scope rings, no go there. Just ordered the seekins 1.45 rings, just read where you mentioned covers not clearing and to go no less than 1.5. I hope these work !!!

Oh dang! The specs on the LaRue LT845 QD mount are 1.535″ above the rail mount. I'm assuming you are using the same scope as I am and that's the reason for your concern? I'll include some pics of just how close the scope comes to the rails with the LaRue LT845 and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'll post them later today. I don't think it's going to make it at 1.45″ and you definitely won't be able to use any scope lens covers or dust caps.

Roughly .288″ from the rails to the scope (that's clearance between the actual scope and rail, not the lense cover cap and rail). You definitely won't make it at 1.45″ if using the Vortex Razor gen II 4.5-27×56. 1.5″ seems to be the magical number. I even talked with a Spuhr rep while trying to make my decision on a scope mount for my Tikka and he also confirmed that I would need (at minimum) a 1.5″ mount with the Razor II scope.

Here you can see just how close the lens cap comes to the rails. I had to trim the cap tab just so it would open without hanging up on the rail.

Sorry to keep stringing this thread along. This will be the last pic I post than I'm done. :-X. Here's a pic of the case to keep my baby safe and a “brothers in arms” shot.

I’ve had several inquiries about scope ring height and I’ll post some additional pictures to clarify. So I’ve found the Larue LT845 to be perfect for the Vortex Razor HD2 4.5-27 x56 and have used that QD mount for both my Tikka and my MPA BA and it’s perfect! 1.5” would be cutting it VERY close. You will barely have enough room for a objective lens cover with a 1.5” ring height. So from the picittini rail to the top objective lens is 2.72” and the objective lens is right at 2.40”. Cut that in half and we get 1.2”. So 2.72”-1.2=2.52”. So you have 0.02” to play with if you use 1.5” rings. Like I said=cutting it CLOSE. Just for gits and shiggles I took an eyepiece lens dust cover and measured the thickness and it’s sitting at .050”. Like I said=1.5” just doesn’t cut it with the Vortex Razor 2 4.5-27×56 unless you shave the picittini rail on your rifle…which I wouldn’t recommend.
