T3X Tac A1 6.5CM scope-mount rings rail moa general question
Posted by Paid2shoot on November 23, 2017 at 7:52 pmHello All,
My first post here. Great forum. Lots of good info.
I am about to purchase a T3X Tac A1 in 6.5 CM. I will probably run a Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 with 71 moa of built in adjustment. I would like to get almost all of the available adjustment by mounting on maybe a 20 or 30 moa rail and a Spuhr 30ish moa one piece ring set up. My question is has anyone already figured this out with a similar setup? My concern is using high enough rings for scope objective clearance since the added moa will tilt the front of the scope down, made possible with high or extra high rings… I hope I made sense. I posted here instead of optics since I thought it covered so many parts of the gun: scope, rings, rail, cheek weld, scope clearance etc.

Hi welcome great caliber (get the longer barrel)I'd just go with the extra moa of 20 in ether the rings or the rail not both

I should have added a couple things to my original post, such as:
So hypothetically if the gun, barrel and picatinny rail are machined perfectly flat and perfectly on axis and if I mount the scope (any scope) with zero moa rings (like a spuhr) then the available scope adjustment should be half of what the scope is capable of mechanically. So for anyone who is running a T3x Tac A1 in 6.5 have you checked to see how much elevation is left on your respective scope (if you are running zero moa picatinny rail and zero moa rings) ? Specifically, from your zero, dial down until it stops spinning… And if you have not checked would anyone be willing to? Now I know each gun will have slight variations, maybe even large variations but it would be great to hear what people have actually experienced. This may help me pick which spuhr mount and which picatinny rail. I don’t mind having some unused moa but I don’t want to leave a lot unused or unavailable due to how I mounted it.
– So in reference to my original post, the razor hd gen 2 in 4.5×27 has 71 so we will say 70 for easy math. If I mount the scope with all zero moa rail/rings and I have 35 moa available then I also have 35 NOT available. So if I knew that I would pick a 30 moa rail.
Sorry for the extremely long wordy post.
Anyone using an all zero moa scope mounting setup please respond. -

I understand your thinking but you bullet will be hitting the ground before you run out of elivation , so just to be sure check out the ballistic , I'll check mine out later today and get back to you on what elevation I need at 1 km

Thanks I am looking forward to finding out what you have. My ballistic app shows that I will need 30.29 moa for 1000 yards and 59.30 moa for 1450 yards. It would be nice to get out that far dialing up. After that I could hold over for a little more distance.

Recommend you use this online app.

I plan on ordering the same rifle with the Spuhr 30mm 6 MIL/20.6 MOA Unimount SP-3601 and Vortex PST 5-25 Gen II scope. The Spuhr has a 1.18″ base (rail top) to scope center. By my calculation the scope cant offset (6″) will work but I'm not sure if it will with the sun shade (10″).
Anyone know the height of the bore/bolt center to rail top?

Sounds like a great setup. That looks like a really nice scope. It has the 70 moa of adjustment built in, the one I want to use has 71 so virtually identical for practical purposes. So you may be able to get about 55 moa of usable adjustment with your proposed setup. You can shoot to around 1300-1400 with that!
I have heard that Mike Lucas makes the best bore guide for the Tikkas. Does anyone have any other suggestions of a good quality rod guide that is readily available? The ML are special order everytime..

A proper set up would be Minox Zp5 X 25 with tier one unimount
