T3x lite SS 308
Posted by Jdig80 on November 17, 2017 at 3:37 amI recently purchased a T3x lite in 308. I have not shot it yet as I'm waiting to see what kind of holiday sales there will be on scopes. I did the paper test on the barrel to see if it was floated all the way to the reciever. I noticed that the barrel contacted the stock about 4″ from the reciever. Is this common with Tikkas? This is the first Tikka I've owned and I don't have anything to compare it to.

Hi you need to take the stock of the action and remove the material on the stock that is in contact with the barrel it needs to float all the way to the action , it's a common problem

Thanks, I was thinking that's all I have to do but figured I'd ask some folks before I went and started taking things apart. I can't wait to shoot this rifle. I got it with the plan for it to be my primary deer rifle. I'm going to get a leupold VX3i 3.5-10×40. I think this should be a nice and lite combo.

More than likely it will not shoot has it should , my experienced guess is it will shoot the first cold bore shot fine and the second one will be good but the next will be off , because of the contact pressure increasing with the hot barrel
