T3X CTR Stainless 308 muzzle diameter for muzzle break
Posted by jrob88 on July 4, 2016 at 9:27 pmI am looking into getting a JP muzzle break for my T3X CTR 308 but am not sure what size to get as i do not have a set of calipers to measure the barrel. The options from JP are .750 and .875. I measured the thread protector cap from the barrel and it looked a little past 3/4 in. like almost 13/16 in. I was curious if any of you with calipers out their have the specific muzzle diameter or have a recommendation for a brake size.
PS the threads are the 5/8×24
Thanks for the help!!!

The barrel thickness on my CTR right before the thread protector is .79″ dia.
The thread protector is .785″ dia, slightly smaller…Both measured with a caliber. I would go wth the .875″ brake if i were ordering one myself.
Better to have it a fraction larger than smaller. -

It doesn't matter which it is if you just comparing diameters

??? Not sure I understand your post…dia is dia, doesn't matter if its a standard or metric measurement.
OP is correct that the threads are 5/8 x 24 for his rifle…If you want metric dia:
.79″ = 20.07mm
.785″ = 19.94mm -

Howdy,
Oooops, sorry folks.. I read the op as an inquiry about the thread size..
As far as I know, it's metric…Paul

Most Tikka's are metric except for the Ctr which is imperial, manly I think is because its target market is the Usa
