T3x – Blued vs Stainless
I am thinking about buying a Tikka T3x and am trying to decide between the blued and stainless version. I have a few questions that I have not been able to find the answers to despite a lot of searching.
I recall reading somewhere that all T3x riles have stainless steel bolts including the blued versions. Is this correct?
It is my understanding that many custom rifle actions consist of a stainless receiver and chromoly steel bolt. The reason usually given for this is that having these components made from materials of different hardness reduces the likelihood of lug galling. I believe that stainless versions of the Remington 700 are made with a chromoly steel bolt head welded onto a stainless bolt body for the same reason.
How does Tikka deal with this issue? Are the bolt and receiver body of the stainless T3x made from the same grade/hardness of stainless steel? If so, is the stainless version more susceptible to lug galling?
