T3 poor accuracy
Posted by ringnek on February 24, 2015 at 4:45 amI have a left handed t3 in 270wsm, with a muzzle brake. The gun used to shoot phenomenal groups now it tends to jump from center to 4in high and left. Scope was replaced with no change and ammo doesn't make a difference. Gun has no more than 300 rounds through it muzzle brake was put on shortly after new with no effect on accuracy.Any ideas?

The aluminum recoil lug is fairly easily damaged with heavy recoiling calibers. I'd suggest checking it for an inverted trapezoid and/or replacing it with a steel one to start. Make sure the action screws are torqued to the correct specs as well.
From what you've mentioned about it shooting great in the past is what leads me to suspect the lug, but it may also be a number of additional factors.

I failed to mention the lug appears to be damaged, but as bad as this shoots I question if this is the problem. I will try and go run a few rounds through it while changing the action screw torque and replace the lug while I am there. I will post picks of the target after I shoot.

The first thing I would do is pull off the scope, rings and base and reinstall these. If that doesn't make a difference I would pull the stock off and reseat the recoil lug and reinstall the stock with proper torqueing.
