T3 Lite vs. Laminated?
Hi all,
According to Tikka's website, the Tikka Lite Stainless weighs the same as the Tikka Laminated. I kinda doubt that since the Tikka Lite has a synthetic stock and it says “lite” in the name! ahahhaha
Also, a friend of mine has the Lite in 30-06 and I find the recoil to be borderline too much. Since I really want to get a Tikka in 30-06, I thought the Laminated would be perfect with the added weight to absorb some of the recoil, but the website says they weigh the same.
Can anyone confirm this?
Why 30-06? I hunt Whitetail and Moose in Canada and my Dad finds his .308 a little on the weak side for Moose. Maybe some other caliber would have less recoil and be as effective?

I cant confirm the weight but I can confirm that puting a limbsaver on my T3 lite .308 took it from a 20 round day to an 80 round day at the range. You can also add a brake if you want as well. The limbsaver was worth its weight in gold in my opinion.

While we're at it. Muzzle brakes! I got a some questions about those. From what I've read… their utility is to reduce recoil. Do they impact accuracy? I noticed that threaded barrels from Tikka a little shorter than normal barrels, does this impact accuracy?
Also, I've read that muzzle brakes are mostly used with magnum calibers… will I look like a wimp having a muzzle brake on a 30-06? hahaha

The laminated Tikkas are definitely heavier than the synthetic. They are typically 12 oz more. Most manufacturers don't accurately list their laminate rifle weights because of variations in wood density used in making a laminate stock.
Our Helmick Arms ultra light laminate stocks are actually lighter than the synthetic stock it comes.
A shorter barrel only affects velocity. The muzzle threads are more designed for suppressors that are common place everywhere in the world except here 😮
