T3 lite siting optics or accuracy issues
Hi all,
I am a new owner and just got out to the range today with my T3lite in .308 with a Nikon Prostaff mounted with the stock tikka rings. Bought the rifle at ll beans and they mounted the scope and bore sighted it for me. I have shot .30-06 a few times and own a number of long guns, so I am pretty sure my shooting mechanics are decent. Rifle also fitted with limbsaver butt pad.
Today I set up on a bench and shot three rounds of Fusion 150gr at a standard paper target (maybe 18″x 18″) at 100 yds and hit no paper. Shot another 3 and then another holding off considerably left and right and high and low and nothing. Tried again at 50 yds and finally 25yds and not one round hit paper or could even be accounted for in the target area. 20 rounds fired total, with short cool off breaks between every 3 and was not able to even find a hole in surrounding target mount. Not good.
So, my first thought is either Beans badly botched the scope mount or the bore sighting, or I whacked it somehow in transport from Maine to Md (I was gentle with it). I expressed a little concern about the tikka rings when purchasing the rifle, but the salesman assured me they'd be fine. Second thought is that I failed to clean the new barrel (a very rookie mistake I know) and frustrated by the inaccuracy of a rifle I bought because it was supposed to perform well out of the box, I shot twenty rounds in 3shkt groups without cleaning or de-coppering. Pretty stupid I guess, but would it be that far off even at the beginning?
Any ideas what's going on here?
Thanks very much,
Porrick
