Spent cases nicking my scope
well i just got back from breaking in my new 270wsm T3 left hand and noticed that the Parallax adjustment dial on my Leupold vx6 3-18 is in the line of fire so to speak,as i noticed when you eject a case it flies up and hits the dial which has nicks in it,not real sure how to remedy this as i don't want to use higher rings as the set up i have is perfect for my cheek weld.Any ideas short of putting a small strip of black electrical tape on the underside of the dial but this would affect the function of the dial,,sucks being a southpaw.

The same thing can happen to a right handed action – throwing fired cases into the windage knob.
There was/is a problem like this on Stiller actions. Mainly due to the bolt using an “M16” style extractor. The location of the extractor and the ejector is such that it throws the cases up. I was able to fix the Stiller problem by filing a slight bevel on the high side of the extractor hook. It doesn't take much to fix the ejection angle.

If you're target shooting, not running fast strings, you could remove the ejector spring in the bolt. This will obviously force you to reach in and retrieve spent cases. This is how the benchrest boys do it. Keeps expensive fireformed cases from being slung and possibly damaged.
