Shortened stock for T3
Posted by bsnabe on October 29, 2018 at 8:30 pmHello everyone. I'm brand new to the Tikka family and I tried the search function but couldn't find anything. I just purchased a T3 forest with the walnut stock. I am a short guy(in height) and will have to trim about an inch off the stock. Unless there is a smaller recoil pad that I can use. Here is my question. Is there anything in the stock that would make this not a good move? Does anyone have any other options for me to consider? Thanks, Brian. Oh it's a 300wsm. I had a 300wm a long time ago that I had to sell because I was young and broke. I've been wanting to get back into another 300 ever since, and couldn't pass up the deal. Thanks again.

You won't find another option other then to cut it…We've cut several before but you will ruin the screw holder inside the stock…you will need to epoxy the butt pad to the stock with a spacer that will insert into the stock…
Or you can see if anyone has a T3 Compact stock for sale…The Lop is .75-1″ shorter than a regular T3…

Thanks Mr Dog. Are compact stocks available through a website or is that just a custom job someone made?
Never mind I see it is a model no longer available. Are the stock screws in the recoil pad philips head, Allen head, or torx head? Thanks for the info.

The screws should be phillips…
I've seen the stock for sale, take a look and see what you can find.
Boyds Stock is also an option, just call them and tell them the custom LOP you want… should cost you about
$200 for a laminated stock. -

I just noticed that you previously mentioned you had a “walnut stock”…if you cut it you should have no problem drilling new holes but you will have to fit a new butt pad…Get a Limbsaver, you should be able to find one that will closely match the new cut profile…just keep in mind these are approximate 1” thick.
