set trigger?
Posted by matt85 on July 31, 2013 at 8:55 amI was reading up on the specs for the Tikka T3 hunter and it mentions an “optional set trigger”. I love set triggers on my guns. can any one tell what kind of set trigger is available for the T3?
thanks

Unfortunately, in America, you have to purchase a TRG42 trigger for almost $400 to get the set trigger.
We're playing around with an aftermarket solution but it is down the production list a ways right now.

yea, ive been in contact with eurooptic.com about ordering a rifle with a set trigger. they told me they could do it but it would have to be a bulk order and they don't think they would sell well enough.
this sucks, I normally shoot with muzzleloaders and set triggers are a huge advantage!

hi I'm new here I just about to order my t3 lite stainless in .243 and can get it with a single set trigger for an extra $70.00 au. This my first rifle and want to do a mix of target shooting as well as hunting.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of having it

I haven't used a single set trigger but my black powder rifles use double set triggers which is the same idea.
by setting the trigger the trigger pull is greatly reduced effectively giving the gun a hair trigger. using the set trigger feature takes some getting used to. with my long rifle, once the trigger is set the main trigger becomes around a 10 oz pull which means the second you touch the trigger the gun will go off. this can really help accuracy for some people (me).
I love set triggers and used a double set triggered rifle to take a deer last year at 70 yards with very primitive iron sights. I imagine the advantage of the single set trigger is that its more useable without setting the trigger. by that I mean double set triggers tend to have VERY heavy trigger pulls if you don't set the rear trigger first. ive heard great things about CZ rifles as they incorporate single set triggers.
its a real shame I cant get a tikka with a set trigger! 🙁
