Scorehi muzzle break
Posted by Shrek on March 11, 2021 at 3:01 pmJust wanted to let anyone who may be pondering putting a muzzle break on a Tikka T3x compact lite in a 6.5 CM chamber for their son – do not hesitate.
I spent 179 plus tax to have Scorehi Gun Smith shop in Albuquerque chop the barrel from 24” down to 18” and put a muzzle break on. I am so happy I decided to do it. It recoils like a .223 with virtually no muzzle rise. Once we got it sighted in, my son was shoot the bullseye on his first shot. The rifle shot .75 moa with 140 grain American and next week we will try the hornady 140grain eld.
I never have been the kind to post reviews but I just think if there is a Dad out there contemplating setting up a deer rifle for his 10 to 12 year old son – don’t second guess yourself – get the tikka and slap a muzzle break on – do it !!

I too am hoping for good result for adding one; i have new tikka t3x superlite that had a muzzle diameter too small for 5/8×24 so i had gunsmith thread 1/2×28 then purchased nemo arms titanium ar15 break with 1/2×28 then had him ream to .030 over .264 bullet diameter and then shoulder it for tdc when tight. Hoping to test the combo out next weekend and add review to this site. My reasoning was not for the brake effect but more for reduced muzzle rise to stay on target; only 1.3 oz

If you’ve got a lite or super lite and threaded 1/2 you could get one of the EC’s adapter and muzzle brake/ barrel tuners , but then again why would you get a lite / super lite then start adding weight, you might as well got a heavier rifle which would reduce muzzle flip / recoil

That was my thought this Nemo Arms was 1.3 oz so Its not noticeable from balance point of view after threading and the gunsmith timed the shoulder to be TDC as the brake has the two holes on top; testing Sat or Sunday to see how it does and to check my polishing of bore issue for crappy extraction of case from chamber

Nemo Brake is amazing works so well on 6.5 creedmoor; picture below was captured as rifle fired resting on table; very little movement up or back… a bit of movement rear and up shooting offhand, this was a 5.56 bore brake (didnt measure the original hole size) opened up .030 over .264 to .294 inside and had the 1/2×28 threads because the Tikka T3x was superlite .620 barrel end is too small for standard 5/8×24 threads; the gunsmith threaded and timed the barrel shoulder so the two upper holes were vertical without washers
