Scope Mounting Help
I just purchased my first Tikka this weekend (T3 Lite) and I had some questions about mounting my scope (Leupold VX2 2-7×33). First, because it's a shorter scope, once I put the scope in place with the proper eye relief, the scope mount is located partially over the ejection port. Is that an issue? You can see the location of the mount in the attached picture.
Second, I'm using a set of Warne Maxima Tikka rings, does it matter whether the recoil pin/lug is to the front or the rear of the ring? Originally, I'd installed it with the pin to the rear, but then the scope was too far forward so I flipped it to the front to get the proper eye relief.
Third, does it matter whether the mounting screws are to the left or the right? I'd read that some of the Sako rails and mounts had a slight taper, so rotating the mounts 180-degrees would cause the taper of the mounts and the taper of the rail to be mismatched. Is that the case on the T3? I read the owners' manual regarding the scope rings, and it just said “See the instructions that came with your rings.” The rifle didn't include any instructions for the stock rings (that I could find) and the Warne rings didn't say anything about left or right.
Anyways, thanks for taking the time to indulge the questions of a new guy, I'm sure I'll have more as time goes on.
