Rechambering 308
Posted by NYSport on November 28, 2015 at 5:07 pmHi, I'm in uncharted territory here so I need a little help. I just bought a T3 Lite .308 (less than 50 rounds fired) to use at my friends range. They mostly shot 6BR, 30BR and some 6.5 Creedmoor. I'd like to re chamber my 308 to one of those calibers. Preferably the 30BR, that way I can take advantage of their load information.
Can someone point me to a research/information source? Or should I buy a new barrel already chambered in the caliber I'm looking for?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi first thing you should look at is the availability of brass and Dias, My new rifle is going to be a 6.5 Creedmoor and the brass and dies over here in England are very hard to find, I've imported both from America and even then there was hard to find

Thanks, that's one on the reasons I want to rechamber, access to reload equipment and data. Most of the group that regularly shoots at this range reload. The calibers listed are pretty much good to go for reloading.

The first thing you should do is chat with your friends that shoot the 30 br. They all were in the same place you are at one time. Shoot your .308 a bit with cheap factory ammo. Then after your friends weigh in, pursue the complicated and wonderful 30br.

As a new shooter in a group of experienced ones, you best plan is volunteer to help with the details of the regular day. Offer to help work the targets, clean the restroom (water closet) anything. No one will fault you for working too hard. Now you can listen and research and your shooting partners will respect you and involve you in their discussions and give you priceless advice.
Good luck friend!

Wilco… Lol I did what I recommended when I was keen on trap shooting.
I cleaned that toilet like it had never seen a scrub brush. I was concerned with our club image and I did not worry about my plans after the match. You have a good opportunity to make an impression. Use it!
