Potential New Owner
Posted by ShtrRdy on January 22, 2012 at 5:02 amI'm a soon to be Tikka owner. It will be a Varmint model in 22-250. Is there anything I should look at/for on the rifle before I buy it? Or is Tikka quality control so good that they don't let anything wrong out of Finland?

All of the metal parts are machined to a couple thousandths of an inch so I wouldn't worry about that.
Just make sure the mag locks into the stock well. Both parts are plastic and cannot be held to high tolerance. That being said, I have only heard of two having any issues.
Enjoy your new toy and welcome to TikkaShooters!

Do I need to be concerned that the barrel might not be free floated properly? Or that the trigger has creep? I sure liked how smooth the bolt felt!

The triggers are amazing! They usually ship at 4 pounds but its an easy adjustment to lighten it.
I keep my hunting ones at 2 pounds With no issues.
There is one contact point on the barrel about 2 inches from the receiver. This is by design but I trim away the plastic to make it completely free floating. Our aftermarket stocks are completely free floated.
Hope this helps!
