Plastic parts in T3 Sporter
Posted by Blazin on February 8, 2013 at 1:36 amI'm considering purchasing a T3 Sporter. I've heard it has plastic parts; can someone list which parts are plastic, and comment on whether or not there's metal replacements.

Blazin,
The “plastic” parts that you are referring to are polymer. I have several T3 Stainless Lites that I use primarily for hunting. I using these rifles for several years and haven't had a single problem.
A lot of guys are buying Magpul magazines for their AR's… “plastic” I mean polymer.
Prior to spending money on replacing any parts, I would try them out. I think too much emphisis is put on the “plastic”… which they are not.
Spend the money that you save on the best optics and optics mounts you can get your hands on.

I agree with msgtmike. My “plastic” framed Glock is certainly a heavy duty pistol. Likewise, my two Tikka T3 rifles are more than capable of handling my hunting and range work.
And, to answer the OP's question, off the top of my head, at least the following parts of the Tikka T3 are polymer: stock, magazine, trigger guard, end of the bolt handle, bolt shroud… there may be some others but I'm not at home so I can't look at one for confirmation.
