(PIC ADDED) HELP. is the cap on the pistol grip removeable for painting??
Posted by 6bloodychunks on September 3, 2012 at 7:18 pmhi,
new guy with a question.
is the cap on the bottom of the pistol grip removeable for painting or will i have to mask it?
there are 2 small areas on each side of the cap that look like a screwdriver would fit, does it just pop off?
want to paint and dip,but i want to figure out if i can remove it.
thanks in advance to anyone that can answer my question ๐

anybody?
i recently dipped my pellet rifle and it turned out amazing,
so i want to do the same to my tikka,
but the cap on the bottom of the grip has been stopping me.it “looks” like it could be removed,
would like to remove it if possible instead of me having to mask it off when i paint.

It looks like you might be in uncharted territory. My experience with other guns is that it would be glued on but a good picture of the cap for us to see would be a big help in helping you.

I'm not sure if the cap is removable, but I have had the stock professionally coated, and the cap was part of the process.
I believe cerakote was used.

My T3 is exactly like the picture. The cap on my stock looks like it is snapped in place. It moved slightly when pryed with a stiff knife but it seems to be very snug. It is a good bet that Tikka made sure the cap would not come off too easily. You might be able to get a look from the inside of the stock by removing the butt plate and inserting a small mirror. It is hard to imagine prying it off without leaving some unsightly marks on the stock or cap.
