Newcomer seeks advice on suitable Tikka Model for Long Distance Target Practice
Hello,
I'm new to this forum having just registered tonight – I'm seeking some advice. I'm not really interested in hunting but I'd really like to buy a rifle for long distance target practice. I have lots of open mountainous countryside around me and getting landowners permission would not be a problem. I'm zooming in on a Tikka Tx Super Varmint. This rifle appears to come highly commended and I understand it would be suited to long distance target practice. Has anybody any comments on its suitability or suggestions in relation to calibre (223, 243, 6.5???) rate of twist, barrell length etc for say delivering rounds out to 1000 yards. Someone suggested to me a Nightforce ATACR scope if my budget spreads this far (Any suggestions on magnification??), also an MAE Moderator and a Kestrel Wind meter. I used to have a shotgun once but have limited knowledge of about rifle shooting. I intend to join the NRA and a shooting range and get further advice. But meantime if anyone has any comments, I'd really welcome them.
Thank You.
