Newbie with a T3 Super Varmint .223
Posted by Sir Ville on October 7, 2015 at 1:59 pmI just want to introduce myself as a new member and soon-to-be Tikka Owner. I have a T3 Super Varmint on order , with a set-trigger and the shorter 510mm factory threaded 1/8″ twist barrel.
I have a question for those in-the-know : Is that twist OK for 55gr bullets or are those maybe too light ? This is my first .223 so excuse me if it´s a dumb question … 😉Sir Ville replied 7 years, 4 months ago 7 Members · 13 Replies -

55's shoot great out of a 8 twist…Nosler BT Spitzers being my favourite in either 55 or 60gr.
Hornady 53gr Amax also shoots very well… -
Welcome from Saturated South Carolina.
I'm a recent T3 owner as well.

That is the exact Tikka I've been looking for, where did you buy it.

You do realize that everyone is going to jump you in a dark alley for getting a Tikka with a set trigger
🙂
Just kidding… or not…

I bought it directly from Finland. I live in Sweden but am of a Finnish origin and have relatives who work at/for Sako. The set-trigger is an option , at least in Europe.

Hornady 53gr Amax also shoots very well…Thanks! Good to know. I have 1000 rds of Fiocchi with 55gr bullets that i got almost for free. I also have around 500 rds of Lapua with 69gr Scenar bullets so i quess i´m set to break in the new rifle once it arrives. The permission (FAC) processing time is ridiculously long in Sweden. Eventhough i already own several firearms it still takes 15-16 weeks to get that new permit. 🙁
The gun is ready and waiting though ! -

Would this be a good choice for my soon-to-be T3 : http://mdttac.eu/tac21-chassis-system.html

My hips are pain defined… Sorry if I miss the detail. If I can work the details with an eye toward the 80.5 bullets I will be happy.
My hips still problem though

It certainly looks the part!
I don't know if you've already got it sorted or not, but if it was me, I think I'd use the money on decent optics to start with, and look at chassis systems afterwards. The standard stock isn't very exciting, but it's a lot better than some other factory synthetic stocks.

I already have several scopes , better than decent , to choose from. I´ll probably crown it with my Delta 3-24x ED or IOR Comp 9-36x Spyder on Spuhr mounts. The scope is not the issue , neither is the stock actually , but i like the immense adjustability of the MDT Tac-21 😉
