Newbie
Hello all,
New guy here with my first Tikka. I have had a lot of Sakos in the pass but for some reason never really looked at the Tikka until I ran across this one. It is a stainless T3 with the laminated stock in .25-06 Remington. I put a Leupold 6×42 scope on it in the factory mounts. I hope to go sight it in and try it out on a few deer and pigs later this week. So far I love the way it handles and if it shoots as well as everyone says they do it will be a winner. I have a bad habit of trading guns pretty quickly but I think this one may hang around a while. If it does I plan on a few tweaks to jazz it up a bit. The first thing will be to get a set of Talley Lightweight mounts to replace the ugly factory ones. I gentleman on another forum makes a nice modification to the Talleys that makes them sit lower and look better mounted on the Tikkas. The next step is for cosmetics but will also lighten the gun by a few ounces. I will send it off to Kampfeld Custom and have them flute the bolt and barrel. The bolt will get the spiral look and straight flutes on the barrel. I will also have him blacken the flutes for contrast. Then either a stainless, aluminum or titanium bolt shroud to replace the plastic one and it will definitely be a keeper!
