New Tikka vs Old
I have an older White tail Hunter in .30-06. Fabulous wood, heavy smooth as butter bolt, 1 MOA, or less at 100 meters, but, since shoulder surgery years ago, no fun to shoot. Today I picked up a TX3, wood/blue in 6.5×55 Swedish. Wood dark and no where near the quality as my 695, a fair amount of wiggle as bolt slides in and out, and seems of lesser quality than my 695. I've been off the forum for a long time and was unable to find a dealer with Tikkas to handle, so maybe this has been discussed to death. Is this the new norm? I got it because love bench rest shooting but the .30-06 is killing me. Thanks

I guarantee that new Tikka of yours shoots like a laser.
Hunter stocks are nothing special but the bolts are slick and the rifles shoot like a million.
You are not going to find many complainers in regards to tikka rifles on this forum I'm afraid.
Maybe try a Ruger forum?Lots of after market support if you need to upgrade.

Eightyeight_mag, check the Ruger Forum, point well taken. You're the only one who replied but, you know what, you really made my day. I can't thank you enough for reassuring me. I really love bench shooting but that surgery deal, years ago, helped but not enough. I am hoping the 6.5×55 will allow me to shoot more often. Based on your reply, I'm already contemplating Tikka #3. Thanks a million.
