New Tikka owner, factory ammo question
Posted by Widgeon97146 on September 20, 2017 at 6:46 pmHello all, I'm a new Tikka owner.
T3x lite in .300wsm
Topped with a Vortex HS 4-16X44
I plan on using it this year for elk, (in place of my old heavy .338win)
So my question is, what factory ammo are people getting good groups and performance with ?
With my .338 I had always shot 180 grain Barnes VOR-TX and done very well.

4 factory loads I have range tested in both my 300wsm T3 rifles…all produced sub MOA results 2 out of every 3 groups @ 100yrds…

BUT…I have very high hopes for this ammo…everything I hear is positive for T3's…

Thank you very much for your information.
I'm very interested in how the Hornady ammo preforms as I have not seen that before. Please keep me posted on that one. I use Hornady 230 grain bullets in my .45's (work great for me) but am currently not set up to reload the .300 WSM
I'm really leaning towards the the Barnes as I've had super good luck with it in my .338 win.
With current ammo prices and time constraints, I just don't want to break the bank trying to find an accurate factory round before Elk season.
New rifle, can't wait to get to the range!!!!

Before i started rolling my own I always used federal premium trophy bonded 180 gr. in my 300wsm.
Great performance. Cabelas did have them on sale for 25 percent off. Not sure if the sale is still going. Now I use nosler accubond 180 with reloader 17 in Norma brass loaded to mag length. An absolute hammer.
If I ever stopped reloading I would go back to the federal premium in a heartbeat. -
Don't go Barnes unless you can do the “high, forward “shot”
A heart shot will let the target run, a forward top shot will put it down right ther
