New Tikka Owner and Member – Very Happy
All,
I'd like to introduce myself, I've been shooting shotguns for quite awhile, and I decided to get into target shooting and deer hunting with some family. For this, I figured I'd get myself a rifle that if I can't blame my bad shooting on. For this, I purchased a Tikka T3 Lite SS in .308.
Took her to the range this weekend and I have to say, I'm rather impressed. Shooting Federal Match 168gr (Sierra MatchKing) rounds, my first 100yd group was .729 MOA (on a warm barrel – I had to sight it in first at shorter distances). This is with my Leupold 2-7 shotgun scope on it (the gun store did not get in my 4-12 40mm scope, so I threw that on there. After a bit, the groupings expanded, but I think that's because in my enthusiasm, I overheated the barrel.
I'm sure this has been discussed, but if anybody has a good way on cutting the recoil a bit (50 .308 shots start to hurt on a 6 lb rifle), I'd be happy to hear it. Also, any ways to keep the barrel cool or cool it off quickly, or should I just calm down and shoot another gun for a bit?
I've attached the target if anybody wants to see it.
Another satisfied owner,
Matt
