New Tikka owner
Posted by Irons78 on November 16, 2017 at 10:55 pmHi all – new member, just picked up my first Tikka…it's a T3 varmint heavy barrel in 308. Scope is a SWFS 10×42. I also reload 308 so looking forward to learning what this gun likes to eat at 1:11 twist. Plan to shoot this weekend!

Mine CTR .308 likes Nosler 125 gr BT & AB with 49 grains W748 2.785 COAL CCI BR2 primers. Getting 2800 fps from 16.5″ barrel with YHM Phantom suppressor and sub MOA groups.
Used the accu-bonds on a 7 PT buck last week, high shoulder shot, DRT. My nephew used the same bullet/load on 6 PT buck double lung went 100 yards and piled up.

Platella – nice shooting! I don't hunt but plan to do long(ish) range target shooting. 400-600 metres. I'm thinking it might be just a little too far for flat base bullets might need BTs to reach out that far. Thanks for the load data! Ive got H4895 and Varget to work with.

Agreed. At those ranges I would definitely be using a boat tail with higher BC. Up here in the northeast we are hunting heavily wooded terrain and seldom shoot over 200-300 yards.
