New sheriff in town
I got an email last week from my gun club that ballistics had been reported to have left the range. A special topic was put on the club meeting to address the situation. As a newer member I made a point of attending to hear the details. As it turns out, the complaint had little merrit, but since the community had elected a new sheriff (a good guy and my classmate from way back) . the complainer decided to try her complaints with the new guy. Let's be clear… No evidence of anything, the range is access controlled with electronic keys, and review of records indicate one of 2 “incidents” had no members shooting at all. ( one report involved known and expert shooters). What we have is an individual that has no evidence of of any projectiles and is not in line with the relatively short range (100X5 stations or so and 1 X 200 yd single station).
The club plans to put new tires on the 100 range and raise the berm a bit, and the new sheriff is amenable.
This is just to vent and encourage clubs to maintain a good relationship with local law enforcement and keep on top of membership and facilities. It only takes one well connected, delusional person to make life really difficult.
