New here, need help with scope mount
Hello, I am new here. Getting a new Tikka T3x lite in .308 .
I could use some help with my scope mounting.
I got a new Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10 to put on it.
I hunt elk on my private land and usually shoot very early AM in extreme low light. I chose this scope for low light, warranty reputation and value. Almost all of my elk shots on my land are in the same spot, no farther than 150 yards. Literally 5 out of 6 years I shoot them in the exact same spot.
Very dark. If opening bell is at 6:15 they tend to walk by at 6:17 so its still very dark.
I have been using my Marlin 30-30 with Skinner peeps and that has always worked well however my eyes are as old as I am and just don't work as well as they used too. Thus I am switching it up and am going Tikka with that Vortex scope to let in lots of light.
Can you Tikka people help me to better understand the different methods of scope mounting so I can make the best choice ?
What is the advantage of using a picatinny rail like the one MT makes, vs other types of rings like a Tally Lightweight or the Game Reaper ?
Any suggestions ?
