New guy
Hello everyone.
Just bought my first Tikka it's an older version in 30 06. The guy I bought it from had the barrel threaded without removing the barrel from the action. He said it would no longer chamber ammo and the ones the did would leave a ring on the case. Anyhow, I bought it as a donor action but when I left it with my gunsmith he called me and says he hasn't had a problem loading or firing any ammo?
I'm in a quandary, do I have him recrown the barrel and sell/shoot it as is or build something else? -

Shoot it first. You can always do whatever with it afterwards if you still want to.
I have a Tikka M695 in 30-06 and it shoots lights out.

I second that motion. I have a 695, same caliber. First time I fired it (3 rounds at meters), I thought either I or the rifle sucked because I could only see one hole. At cease fire, I walked down to the target and still only saw one hole and edges of 3 rounds. I'm just a ham and egger so, it's the rifle, not me. Subsequently, two friends bought one and I bought my second last week?

Thanks guys, my son has a 25 06 and it shoots extremely well. I guess I'm just not a big 30 06 fan. I have multiple big caliber rifles that'll do whatever I ask of them out past 1k. I guess maybe just leave it as is and shoot it if need be.
