MAX Objective Size with Seekins LOW rings and MT 0MOA Rcvr lngth Rail
Posted by Stump Buster on March 29, 2016 at 10:03 pmHi All,
I pick up my new Tikka T3 SuperLite 223 tomorrow and had a quick question on optic fit. I ordered the Performance Kit with the receiver length 0MOA rail from MT and plan on using Seekins LOW rings for a good cheek weld. I know I can make a 40mm objective work, but I was hoping to go with a 42mm or even 50mm scope on this rifle for nighttime predator work. I have a few scopes picked out in both 1″ and 30mm tube diameter and will select one based on what I can make work with this Ring/Rail combo.
If anyone has experience with this combo and can let me know what the max objective size I can get away with (in both 1″ and 30mm), I'd appreciate it.
THANK YOU,
Stump

You should have no issues mounting the 30mm Seekins low rings (.82″) and a 50mm objective. It might actually be a perfect ring / rail height combo…
I'm currently using Leupold Med PRW rings (.97″ht) + MT rails (either 0moa or 20moa) and Vortex 30mm tube…no issues up to 50mm objective. Here's what my ring ht and MT rails look like with 30mm tube and 50mm objective…the Lite has the 20moa rail…the varmint has a 0moa rail cut back to receiver length.

THANK YOU Gentlemen!
Do you think the Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10×56 would be pushing it with the low rings? If so, what kind of cheek weld are you getting with your medium rings Dog Down?
THANKS Again,

I like the shooting position posture and cheek weld with a .9-1″ ring height.
Seems to fit me best for all shooting positions from prone to bench. I also have a browning neoprene cheek pad/pack on my rifle that makes it very comfortable to shoot….doesn't really change your cheek weld much, if anything maybe 1/8″ difference on height, but a lot nicer pushing into the gun. See attached… -
Finally got everything assembled on my T3 SuperLite. I was able to get away with a 56mm Objective with the Seekins Lows and MT Rail. I ended up taking advantage of SWFA's tax weeekend sale and going with a Trijicon 2.5-10×56 Accupoint. The rifle also has the following parts… MT Bottom Metal, MT Gen1 Shroud, Limbsaver pad, Lumley Ti Bolt handle and Recoil lug.
Debating on sending the bolt off for fluting, but want to get out and shoot it first. Here it is as it sits today…
Thanks Again for the help guys!

Very nice setup! I like the idea of camo wrapping the bipod legs – is that vet wrap?

Hey Eric,
Yes Sir, that is vet/equine wrap from the local feed store (way cheaper than the “name brand camo” wraps sold at sporting good stores). The entire front end of the rifle will eventually be wrapped in it, I just hadn't removed it from the bi-pod that I removed from my other calling rifle before taking the picture. I have three different styles of wrap (the green shown above for spring, a brown camo for summer/fall and solid white for hunting in snow). It's cheap, reversible, adds protection and is more terrain/season adaptable than camo-dipping.
Thanks!
