Lengthen Bolt Throw on T3 308 win ?
Posted by nimrodtracy on January 20, 2014 at 10:25 pmI want to cut back the bolt stop and use a 3006 magazine so I will be able to seat bullets out in my T3 308 win. I want bullets to touch the rifling and have the cartridges still work through the magazine.
Has anyone done this before?

YUP Buy the factory 30-06 bolt stop and replace in a couple of minutes and use the long cartridge mags – i did it with my 338 Federal ! ;D RJ

How well did it help accuracy, what were your groups before and after?

you can also grind the short action stop back to the last vertical beam and the bolt is now a long action.

Since the .308 is just a cut down .30-06 there shouldn't be any problem at all. You're basically just wishing to acquire a long action rifle chambered in .308
Tikkas are all manufactured in the long action configuration and to make it a short action, they just put in a shorter bolt stop. Change it out and voila, long action.
